Product overview

A modern desk phone for high-interaction office roles

The V650 sits in the middle-to-upper part of HP Poly’s Edge V open-SIP family. It is intended for people who spend a meaningful part of the working day handling calls but do not necessarily need the largest executive or reception model. The dual-display layout gives the user more visible call and contact controls than a basic single-screen handset, while the phone remains compact enough for ordinary desks, shared offices, team-lead positions, project rooms, and administrative workstations.

For a business replacing older VoIP handsets, the practical value is in combining familiar physical call control with current deployment features. HP identifies the V650 with eight keys around the main screen plus six keys beside the secondary screen. HP also describes the model as supporting up to 44 lines and one Edge V expansion module. This gives buyers room to plan for users who monitor several extensions, shared lines, speed dials, call queues, or frequently contacted colleagues without immediately moving to a larger attendant console.

Call quality is another major part of the design. Poly HD Voice is paired with NoiseBlockAI and Acoustic Fence technologies, while the V650 also receives enhanced bass response. In a real office, this combination is relevant when keyboards, nearby conversations, printers, corridor activity, or open-plan seating can make voice calls tiring. These technologies do not remove the need for good network design or a suitable headset, but they can make the endpoint itself better prepared for demanding audio environments.

Connectivity is designed around both wired and wireless deployment. HP lists Ethernet with Power over Ethernet support across the family and confirms integrated Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 for the V650. Two USB-C ports add flexibility for compatible headsets, PC connectivity, or supported expansion workflows. For IT teams, HP also positions the Edge V family for management through Poly Lens, provisioning servers, and Zero-Touch Provisioning options. This matters when a company is deploying more than a few phones and wants repeatable settings rather than manual desk-by-desk configuration.

Dubai and UAE buyers should still confirm the exact voice platform and regional SKU before ordering. Open SIP describes the signaling approach, not a guarantee that every cloud PBX feature, local carrier service, headset, emergency workflow, or provisioning method will behave identically. FourTeck can help turn the model name into a usable procurement specification by reviewing the SIP service, quantity, network, PoE availability, user role, accessories, and required support before a quote is prepared.

Business benefits

Why the V650 can make sense in a structured voice deployment

Its value comes from balancing visible call control, wireless flexibility, manageable deployment, and room for moderate expansion. The most useful benefit depends on how the user actually works.

01 / CALL FLOW

More information visible without constant menu switching

A primary 3.5-inch screen and a secondary 2.4-inch screen create separate visual areas for line appearances, features, and contacts. For administrators, coordinators, team leaders, and users handling several conversations, visible keys can reduce dependence on nested software menus. The phone becomes a dedicated communication surface rather than merely a handset attached to an extension.

02 / CLARITY

Designed for clearer conversations in active offices

NoiseBlockAI and Acoustic Fence are aimed at reducing distracting background sound around the caller. Combined with Poly HD Voice and the V650’s enhanced bass response, the endpoint is built for environments where voice quality affects customer service, coordination, and day-to-day productivity.

03 / FLEXIBILITY

Wireless options can simplify difficult desk locations

Integrated Wi-Fi 6 gives deployment teams an alternative when an Ethernet drop is inconvenient, while Bluetooth 5.4 supports compatible wireless accessories and pairing scenarios. Wired Ethernet remains important for predictable office voice design, especially where PoE, VLANs, or policy controls are required.

04 / SCALE

One expansion module for roles that grow

The V650 supports one optional Edge V expansion module. A buyer can deploy the handset for a normal multi-line role and later add more programmable key capacity if the user’s responsibilities expand into heavier monitoring, assistant, or front-desk workflows.

05 / MANAGEMENT

A deployment path built for IT administration

HP positions the Edge V family for Poly Lens, provisioning servers, and zero-touch methods. This can help IT teams move from one-off phone setup to repeatable configuration, inventory visibility, firmware control, and remote operational support across multiple offices.

06 / ACCESSIBILITY

Practical accessibility options for a wider user group

The Edge V family includes text-to-speech, larger font settings, and display adjustments intended to improve accessibility. That can matter in mixed workforces where the phone needs to remain usable across different vision, reading, and interface preferences.

Product highlights

The V650 is defined by visibility, audio control and flexible connectivity

HP describes the V650 as a model for office collaborators rather than a simple common-area handset. That distinction helps explain the dual-display design and the mix of physical keys, wireless capabilities, USB-C connectivity, and expansion support. The phone is intended for users who need a reliable physical endpoint while still operating inside a modern IP communication environment.

The main screen is a 3.5-inch color display and the secondary screen is 2.4 inches. Together they support 14 dedicated line keys across the two areas. HP’s 2026 product announcement notes support for up to 44 lines, giving administrators the ability to map multiple appearances and features according to the chosen SIP service. The exact assignment of keys, contacts, presence, shared lines, or call features is platform dependent, so the handset should be planned together with the PBX or hosted voice system.

The V650 includes an RGB color-mixing halo light around the screen for quick status indication. It is supplied with a two-position desk stand, while wall mounting requires a separately sold accessory. Integrated Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 distinguish it from wired-only models in the range, and support for one optional expansion module gives higher-call-volume users an upgrade path without immediately changing the base handset.

Choosing the correct configuration starts with the voice platform. Confirm whether the handset will register directly to a hosted SIP provider, an on-premises PBX, a session border controller environment, or another approved service. Next, determine whether each desk has PoE and structured cabling or whether Wi-Fi is genuinely required. Wireless can solve placement challenges, but many enterprises still prefer wired voice for predictable quality, segmentation, troubleshooting, and power management. Finally, identify the accessory set: headset type, expansion module, wall mount, power supply, and any cabling that the selected regional package does not include. These decisions affect the final quote more than the base handset name alone.

Configuration workbench

Questions to answer before ordering

The highest-risk mistake is buying a capable desk phone before confirming that the chosen SIP service, network, accessories, and user workflow match the device. Use these checks to turn a model request into a complete deployment requirement.

01 / CONFIRM

Which SIP platform will register the phone?

Share the PBX, hosted voice provider, or service platform. Open SIP provides flexibility, but feature support, provisioning templates, shared-line behavior, directory integration, and emergency settings can differ by platform.

02 / MATCH

How many lines and visible controls does the user need?

Count personal extensions, shared lines, call queues, monitored colleagues, speed dials, paging functions, and other keys. If 14 keys are not enough, plan the optional Edge V expansion module rather than adding it after deployment pressure appears.

03 / PLAN

Will the desk use PoE, local power, or Wi-Fi?

Check the switch port, PoE budget, voice VLAN, cabling path, and whether wireless deployment is necessary. The correct power accessory can vary by regional SKU and by the way the phone is connected.

04 / REVIEW

Which headset and accessories are part of the user workflow?

Decide whether the user needs a Bluetooth headset, USB headset, wired handset-only use, wall mount, or expansion module. Accessory compatibility should be confirmed against the exact headset model and deployment method.

05 / SCALE

Is this a single desk, branch rollout, or larger fleet?

Quantity changes the deployment plan. A multi-site project may need pre-provisioning data, standardized firmware, extension mapping, asset tracking, network-readiness checks, and staged delivery rather than simple unit supply.

06 / SUPPORT

What support and warranty expectations apply?

Ask for the exact regional warranty terms, replacement process, firmware responsibility, and whether configuration support is needed. Do not assume every regional SKU or supply channel carries identical support terms.

For a useful FourTeck quote, send the model, quantity, delivery location, SIP platform, expected line count, PoE availability, headset preference, expansion requirement, and target deployment date. That information allows the request to be checked as a working communication solution instead of a standalone hardware purchase.

Business use cases

Where the V650 fits best

The handset is most credible where people need a dedicated desk endpoint, frequent call handling, and more visible controls than an entry-level phone provides. It is not automatically the right choice for every desk.

Administrative and coordination desks

Office administrators often manage their own extension while watching colleagues, meeting rooms, shared lines, service numbers, or frequent external contacts. The V650’s dual displays and 14 keys can keep more of these functions visible. If responsibilities expand, the optional expansion module can add further programmable capacity. This makes the model especially relevant when a basic handset would force too much menu navigation but a full receptionist console would be excessive.

Project managers and team leaders

Team leaders who coordinate internal calls, suppliers, clients, and remote colleagues can benefit from persistent line and contact visibility. Bluetooth support also gives them the option to pair compatible wireless headsets when they need to move around the workspace during longer conversations.

Professional services offices

Legal, consulting, accounting, engineering, real-estate, and other client-facing teams often still value a dependable desk phone for direct dialing, transfer, hold, conference, and visible extension control. The V650 provides a traditional physical interface while fitting an IP-based communication architecture.

Shared office and hybrid-work positions

In workplaces where desks may be reassigned, centralized provisioning and user profile practices become important. The Edge V platform’s management and provisioning options can help IT teams standardize device behavior, while Wi-Fi gives flexibility where permanent network cabling is limited.

Frontline service counters

Retail, hospitality, healthcare administration, education, and service desks can involve background activity and fast call handling. Noise-reduction features, visible status indication, physical keys, and the family’s built-in emergency functionality can be relevant, provided the organization configures those features according to its policies.

Branch-office communications

For branches using a centralized or hosted SIP platform, the V650 can provide a consistent endpoint for selected higher-use desks. IT teams should confirm WAN quality, voice VLANs, PoE, remote provisioning, security policies, and failover expectations before rollout.

Feature deep dive 1

HP Poly Edge V650 Dual-Display Call Control

The V650’s defining interface feature is not simply that it has a color screen. It has two color displays arranged around dedicated line keys: eight by the 3.5-inch main screen and six by the 2.4-inch secondary screen. That changes how a busy user can organize call functions. Rather than opening a directory or software panel for every action, the desk phone can keep frequently used lines, colleagues, service numbers, and features visible.

For a buyer, the key question is how those keys will actually be programmed. A user with one extension and occasional calls may not need this amount of control. A coordinator who watches several shared lines, handles transfers, checks presence, or regularly calls a fixed group of people can use the additional visibility much more effectively. HP’s announcement says the V650 supports up to 44 lines, but the real behavior depends on the SIP platform and configuration.

The optional expansion module creates another planning point. The V650 supports one module, so a buyer can add more programmable keys if the role approaches attendant-style use. If the expected workload is substantially higher from day one, it may be worth comparing the V800/V850 family instead of relying on expansion after purchase.

Feature deep dive 2

HP Poly Edge V650 Audio Clarity and Noise Control

A business desk phone is useful only when both sides can understand the conversation. The V650 combines Poly HD Voice with NoiseBlockAI, Acoustic Fence, and enhanced bass response. These technologies address different parts of the audio experience. HD Voice is intended to deliver a broader, clearer voice experience when the call path supports it. NoiseBlockAI targets unwanted sounds. Acoustic Fence is designed to focus on the speaker’s immediate voice zone and reduce voices or noise outside that area. Enhanced bass response supports a fuller loudspeaker experience.

This matters in open offices, service counters, shared administrative areas, and home offices where the caller may compete with other conversations or routine environmental noise. Better endpoint processing can reduce distraction and make calls feel more professional. However, no phone can compensate for packet loss, congested WAN links, poor QoS design, an unsuitable SIP codec policy, or an incompatible headset. Buyers should treat audio performance as an end-to-end system issue rather than a handset-only feature.

NoiseBlockAIDesigned to identify and reduce distracting non-speech noise.
Acoustic FenceHelps emphasize the caller’s defined speaking zone.
HD VoiceSupports clearer voice reproduction when the full call path is compatible.
Enhanced bassProvides fuller loudspeaker response for desk-based listening.
Feature deep dive 3

HP Poly Edge V650 Connectivity, Security and Fleet Management

The strongest reason to choose a new-generation enterprise endpoint is often operational rather than cosmetic. The V650 brings integrated Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB-C ports, Ethernet/PoE capability within the Edge V platform, and centralized management options. These features let an IT team design different deployment patterns while keeping the handset inside an enterprise voice architecture.

Wi-Fi is useful where cabling is difficult, temporary, or expensive, but wired Ethernet with PoE is still attractive for many offices because a single managed switch port can carry data connectivity and power while remaining easier to segment and troubleshoot. Bluetooth supports compatible wireless headset and mobile-pairing scenarios. USB-C provides a current accessory interface and supports the optional expansion workflow.

Security and administration also need attention. HP states that every Edge V model includes a Trusted Security Module intended to support device authenticity, cryptographic-key protection, secure provisioning, and protection against supply-chain and network-based threats. For administration, Poly Lens, provisioning servers, and Zero-Touch Provisioning can help standardize deployment. Before procurement, the IT team should decide who owns firmware, configuration templates, certificates, network policy, and incident response for the phone fleet.

Deployment decision checklist

  • Confirm Ethernet, PoE class/budget, VLAN and QoS design.
  • Use Wi-Fi only where the coverage and security policy are suitable for business voice.
  • Validate Bluetooth or USB headset compatibility by exact headset model.
  • Choose the provisioning method before staging many units.
  • Define certificate, firmware and configuration ownership.
  • Document emergency-call behavior and local policy before enabling discreet alert features.
Buyer decision guide

What Buyers Should Check Before Purchase

The most important purchase risk is assuming that an Open SIP phone will automatically match every existing PBX, accessory, power setup, and feature requirement. A short technical review before quotation can prevent incompatible headsets, missing power accessories, insufficient line visibility, or a handset that cannot be provisioned the way the IT team expects.

01 / FIT

Configuration Fit

Decide whether the user genuinely needs 14 visible keys, whether one expansion module is likely, and whether the V650 is the right balance between a simpler V400/V450 and the larger V800/V850 models. Also determine whether the selected regional SKU includes the required local power option.

02 / MATCH

Compatibility Check

Confirm the hosted SIP service or PBX, provisioning method, voice VLAN, codecs, directory behavior, shared-line requirements, PoE, headset model, and any firewall or session-border-controller policies. Open SIP improves choice, but operational features are still platform dependent.

03 / TERMS

Availability and Warranty

HP announced expected Edge V Series availability from September 2026 through select partners, with final model availability varying by region. UAE buyers should request current lead time, regional part number, warranty terms, return conditions, and accessory availability rather than assuming another country’s listing applies locally.

04 / REQUEST

Quote Preparation

Send the quantity, deployment city, target date, SIP platform, extension and shared-line requirements, PoE availability, wired or wireless preference, headset model, expansion-module requirement, and any staging needs. For project supply, include site count and whether units must be delivered in phases.

Long-term cost should include more than the handset. Consider compatible headsets, expansion modules, PoE switch capacity, power adapters where required, wall mounts, implementation time, licensing from the voice platform, firmware management, and support effort. If the organization is replacing older Poly phones, compare the actual workflow and required features rather than assuming key mappings or provisioning files can be reused unchanged.

UAE availability and service support

Plan the purchase around the exact regional configuration

FourTeck supports product inquiries across Dubai and the UAE with assistance for model selection, configuration review, quote preparation, delivery coordination, and warranty guidance. For a newly introduced phone family such as Edge V, regional timing matters. HP announced that the Edge V Series is expected to become available through select partners from September 2026 and states that final model availability and certifications may vary by region. That means an overseas listing should not be treated as confirmation of UAE stock.

Selection support focuses on the working requirement: SIP platform, number of visible lines, network design, headset, wireless need, expansion module, and power arrangement. Delivery coordination then depends on quantity, supplier status, selected regional SKU, accessories, and destination. Warranty guidance should be confirmed for the actual supply channel and part number because support conditions can differ by country or package.

For an accurate request, include your company location, quantity, required date, voice system, and whether the phones need to be staged or simply supplied. FourTeck can then help check current options without making unsupported assumptions about stock or delivery speed.

Check UAE Availability

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman business coverage

Businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, and other UAE locations can contact FourTeck for product sourcing inquiries, configuration guidance, quote assistance, and delivery planning. The same model can serve very different environments, from a single executive office to a multi-site administrative rollout, so the buying process should start with the business role and voice platform rather than location-specific assumptions.

For multi-branch projects, provide a site list, handset quantities by location, target deployment dates, PBX or hosted voice details, and any accessory requirements. This makes it easier to plan staged delivery, standardize the configuration, and identify whether the V650 should be used on every desk or only for higher-call-volume positions while simpler models cover common areas.

GCC and Africa inquiry support

FourTeck also supports business technology inquiries across selected GCC and Africa markets through regional inquiry channels. Organizations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Kenya, Uganda, and other markets can request assistance with product selection, project quantities, compatible accessories, and sourcing options. Availability, regional certifications, warranty handling, taxes, delivery routes, and lead times can differ by country, especially for a newly announced product family.

For cross-border or multi-country projects, it is useful to standardize the technical requirement first and then confirm the commercial package per destination. Share the SIP platform, required line capacity, network and power assumptions, headset standard, quantity by country, target dates, and whether the phones will be configured centrally. This reduces the risk of mixing different regional part numbers or accessory bundles without understanding the operational impact.

Regional inquiry resources include FourTeck UAE, FourTeck Kuwait, FourTeck Kenya, FourTeck Uganda, and FourTeck Africa. Contact the relevant team for current country-specific options.

FourTeck buying support

Why business buyers involve FourTeck before ordering

Business voice procurement is rarely just a hardware transaction. The handset must fit the voice service, network, user role, accessory standard, deployment method, and support expectation. FourTeck helps buyers organize those decisions so the requested model can be evaluated in the context of the actual project.

Product sourcing support

Assistance with current model, regional part number, quantity, and supplier-status review without promising unverified stock.

Configuration guidance

Review of SIP platform, line requirements, connectivity, PoE, expansion needs, and accessory choices before quotation.

Quote assistance

A structured request can include the handset, relevant accessories, required quantity, delivery location, and project timing.

UAE delivery coordination

Planning can consider single-site, staged, or multi-branch requirements according to confirmed supplier and logistics options.

Warranty guidance

Buyers can ask for the warranty terms that apply to the actual regional SKU and supply channel rather than relying on assumptions.

Related product matching

If the V650 is too simple or too advanced for a user group, FourTeck can help compare adjacent models and deployment roles.

For mixed-office deployments, it may be more cost-effective to standardize several roles rather than install the same handset everywhere. Common-area desks may need fewer visible controls, collaborators may suit the V650, and reception or executive positions may justify a larger model. A role-based bill of materials can simplify support while avoiding unnecessary hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Questions business buyers ask about the V650

01

What is the HP Poly Edge V650 used for?

It is an Open SIP business desk phone for office collaborators and other users who handle multiple calls, lines, contacts, or programmable functions. Its dual color displays and 14 line keys provide more visible call control than simpler models, while Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C connectivity, and one optional expansion module support flexible office deployment.

02

Does the V650 support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?

Yes. HP confirms Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 on the V650. Wi-Fi can help where a wired network connection is impractical, while Bluetooth can support compatible wireless accessories and pairing scenarios. Businesses should still validate wireless coverage, security policy, headset compatibility, and the preferred power arrangement before using wireless connectivity as the default design.

03

How many line keys does the phone provide?

The V650 has eight line keys associated with its 3.5-inch main display and six more beside the 2.4-inch secondary display, giving 14 visible keys. HP’s 2026 announcement states support for up to 44 lines. The way those lines, contacts, or features are assigned depends on the SIP service and administrator configuration.

04

Can I add an expansion module?

Yes. HP states that the V650 supports one HP Poly Edge V Expansion Module, sold separately. It is useful for administrators, assistants, or higher-call-volume users who need more programmable keys for monitored lines, contacts, or frequent actions. If two modules are required, the larger V800/V850 family should be reviewed instead.

05

Will it work with my existing VoIP system?

The V650 is an Open SIP desk phone, but compatibility should still be confirmed with the exact PBX or hosted voice provider. Registration, provisioning, shared lines, directories, codecs, call recording, emergency functions, and advanced feature keys can vary by platform. Provide FourTeck with the voice-system name and current phone model for a more useful compatibility review.

06

Is the V650 available in Dubai and the UAE now?

HP announced that the Edge V Series is expected to become available through select partners from September 2026 and notes that final availability can vary by region. Buyers should therefore request a current UAE availability check rather than assume an overseas listing reflects local supply. FourTeck can review the required quantity, regional SKU, and target delivery date.

07

What should I include in a quote request?

Include the model, quantity, company location, target date, SIP platform, number of lines or monitored extensions, PoE availability, wired or wireless preference, headset requirements, expansion-module need, and any wall-mount or staging requirement. For multi-site deployments, also provide quantities by branch so delivery and configuration planning can be discussed together.

08

Does FourTeck provide warranty and configuration guidance?

FourTeck can help buyers review configuration requirements and request the warranty terms that apply to the actual regional product and supply channel. This can include model selection, connectivity, expansion, accessory planning, quantity, and delivery coordination. Exact warranty coverage should always be confirmed on the final quotation rather than assumed from another country’s product page.

09

Should I choose the V650 or a larger V800/V850 model?

Choose based on line visibility and role complexity. The V650 offers 14 keys across two displays and supports one expansion module. HP positions the V800/V850 for executives and reception roles with larger 5-inch main displays and support for two expansion modules. If the user already needs a receptionist-style control surface, starting with the larger family may be more practical.

10

Can businesses request project or bulk supply?

Yes, businesses can request quotations for larger quantities or multi-location projects. For a project request, provide handset quantities by user role, site locations, deployment schedule, network-readiness information, voice platform, accessories, and any staging requirements. This makes it possible to discuss a consistent bill of materials and identify where different Edge V models may be more suitable for different user groups.

Buying assistance

Need help planning the right desk-phone configuration?

FourTeck can review the intended user role, SIP platform, number of lines, quantity, connectivity, headset and expansion needs, delivery location, and warranty expectations before preparing a quote. This is especially useful for a newly released model where regional part numbers and availability can change.

Share the model, quantity, SIP system, required line count, PoE or Wi-Fi preference, accessories, delivery location, and target date.
